Step 1—Admit
Admit that I am powerless to control my desire to intentionally injure and damage my body, my life is unmanageable, and my actions are out of control.
Step 2—Believe
Believe that God exists, that I am of importance to God, and that God has the power and desire to help me overcome self-injury and all types of self destructive behavior.
Step 3—Turn Over
Make a decision to turn my life over to God, and choose to allow God to guide my steps.
Step 4—Confess
Take an honest look at myself and confess my faults to God, to myself, and to someone I trust.
Step 5—Submit
Submit to every change God wants to make in my life and ask Him to remove my character flaws and shortcomings, which include every aspect of self-inflicted violence.
Step 6—Evaluate
Evaluate all my relationships. Examine the choices I make and make adjustments when required.
Step 7—Forgive
Offer forgiveness and make amends to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, with the exception when to do so would harm someone.
Step 8—Let Go
Make a decision not to dwell on past mistakes or past difficulties; let things go and when wrong, promptly admit it and move on.
Step 9—Daily Time
Set aside a daily time with God to know His will for my life, and to gain the power to follow His will.
Step 10—Live Free
While yielding myself to God, apply these steps to every day living, knowing that I am liberated through God’s unfailing love and grace.
