BSSI (Breaking the Silence of Self-Injury)
is a support group for those who self-injure who want to stop. BSSI is a support group specifically geared
toward self-injury and a place to share about struggles with self-inflicted violence and the stressors that cause
a person to harm his/herself as well as to provide support with self-injurious behavior. BSSI is also for those in
the recovery process.
The first
BSSI meeting took place on November 4, 2005! Designed to be positive and uplifting, you will be part of the discussions
and encouraged to keep a journal.
PURPOSE: To provide you with support
you will need to stop harming yourself while learning to overcome every aspect of self-injury.
With the goal of ending the cycle of self-injurious behavior in mind, you will hear people share their struggles
as well as hear what helps them, in addition to learning to cope positively rather than act out immediately.
DAY & TIME: BSSI
takes place the 1st & 3rd Friday evening of every month. Meeting starts at 8:00pm and ends at 9:30pm.
No advance notice required. Click here for schedule of meetings.
LOCATION:
37 Vreeland Road in Florham Park, NJ in suite 205. We are located on the upper level of Living Praise Church on 37
Vreeland Road. Please park in the rear of the building and enter at the single set of double doors.

at time of meeting. Due to the nature of the topic, all meetings are closed meetings, meaning this group is not
open to parents, spouses or friends of a self-injurer nor is it open to clinicians or therapists. Those looking to support
someone who self-injures or for those seeking information, please click here to attend the Self-Injury Awareness meeting.
GUEST 'SPEAKER': From time to time Vicki may invite a guest who will share
on how he/she has overcome his/her struggles with self-injury and how they maintain there freedom from a self-injurious lifestyle
as well as freedom from other addictive behaviors. This is a 20 minute segment, with the guest speaking for 10-15 minutes
and 5 minutes for any questions members may have. Advance notice will be provided to group members when a guest
is scheduled.
OTHER INFO: Group participation encouraged. Transportation to and from

be advised that parental/guardian consent will be required prior to a meeting.
BSSI is the only self-injury support group in New Jersey, so although it may be far from you, come out and see what it is
all about!
